Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting Posted: 3 weeks ago by shuallyo
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

How odd, he is usually pretty good in terms of Pr.
Guess he just wasn't thinking.

Wow, it feels like he was out of it for a moment. I wonder if that has anything to do with being bombarded by tragic news all the time. Or if he was just so used to peppy speeches he..
I'm not really sure, but this definitely could have been handled a bit more respectfully.

[..] At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." [...] One could nitpick that no one "wins" the Medal of Honor. It is earned. However a larger error was made. Dr Crow was awarded the "Medal of Freedom". It is the highest civilian award but far different than the Medal of Honor.

For a long time I have fought against all the people that called him the anti-Christ but I guess now I have to admit they were right all along. );)

So he is at a conference for tribal affairs and he thanks his staff and the other people involved in putting the conference together before he talks about the shooting. Thats supposed to be a big deal? That is supposed to show some kind of inappropriateness?
It's not like he was quoting Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter. I guess I am really missing the "disconnect" here.

It's not like he was quoting Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter. I guess I am really missing the "disconnect" here. Well, the entire description is a biased opinion.
The video, or the news broadcast that was on every channel, should allow us all to make up our own minds without a pre-conditioning of what we about to see or read.
I strongly feel we should not be putting personal opinions as descriptions of the posts.
It is simply someone's opinion that he was insensitive, certainly not a fact. You or I may feel that way but still does not make it a fact.

That would eliminate about 90% of my posts. I don't have a problem with posters on plime mixing in there own opinions. That makes the site less generic and more interesting. When a news outlet is doing it then I have a problem.

When a news outlet is doing it then I have a problem. I think opinions belong in the comments not in the description of a news piece and particularly not in the headline.
There have been articles posted on Plime that had decriptions that not only were pure opinions but were not supported at all by the article.
I don't think Plime posters should be emulating The National Enquirer
But that's just my.....opinion. ;)
