....on university, I used Pseudomonas aeruginosa among other bacteria for my final project.

One day my professor stepped up to me and told me he made a mistake; considering the precautions taken in my project, P. aeruginosa was not a safe strain to work with after all.
I told him it was ok, and i was carefull (I wasn't going to throw away months worth of work).

This is the first time I learned what this thing can do, i never bothered to look it up before.

My heart goes out to this girl and her family, that's one bad way to go.

That's so sad...what a tragic way to go. I've had my share of utis over the years and never thought this sort of thing could happen.

You worked on something for months, for a final project on bacteria, and you never knew what the bacteria did?
