I know of a similar area near Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. Radio waves from the airport interfere with the remote buttons on cars, usually US made. Usually the towing company just moves the car a few hundred yards away and all is fine again. Happened to me twice already in that area.

Not too effective though is it.

It doesn't seem to affect the thousands of taxi's that drive by it every day.
