So I got a call today from the SSA (Social Security Administration) informing me that my ex-wife is going to be receiving the checks for my son again. It's a courtesy call, what happens is this...

I get Social Security Disability, my son also qualifies for a monthly check and his parent/guardian receives it. When he is with her, she gets it, when he is with me, I get it. It helps provide for him.

...What has happened in past years is this...

For the first few years, she got 12 checks a year because I didn'nt even KNOW that she had applied for it. I still had custody of him two months out of the year, but she continued to take his checks during those two months.

Then I found out that he should be getting them, and I got two checks a year.. except for the year that she requested them to switch over to her early and although I had him for two months, I only received one check.

I know, it sounds greedy doesn't it? "He's with me! I get the money!" but this is more than greed. I am on a sole income of Social Security Disability. I do ok on the months when he's with his mom, when suddenly I have an extra mouth and clothes (She won'nt send anything oter than the ones he's wearing), shoes (same), food, etc. etc. It gets REALLY tight.

He doesn't know it does, but it goes month to month. Those months when she gets the extra money for the year I end up borrowing from relatives and paying them back.

I have proof that I had him during those times, the SSA has proof of who got which checks and when... It should be a simple matter of putting it altogether and saying "Hey, you got too much money."

...and yet. Nothing. SSA won't go after her for lying to them. Child support FINALLY got the proof they need that she was double dipping and now she is paying me back for the money that they took from me (Froze bank accounts, took dividends from multiple years..). ($2500, $10 a month. Yeah, he'll be 25 when she finishes paying that off.)

So I'm tired. Just writing stuff like this out helps but I just wish for one of you guys (and girls) to be a magical savior who writes me back and says "Hey, I can help."

I don't want 'pain and suffering' or to make her do jailtime for this crap, but I DO want her to have to own up for the lies and fraud (My term of choice) that she has committed. SSA doesn't seem interested. State of Alaska child support is allowing her to make $10 payments a month. Nobody seems to CARE.

Is there anything more I can do than just moan and complain on Plime?

Contact Social Security and ask them about it. See what they can do. Also, depending on how much you hate/love/like your ex-wife you can always consult a lawyer.
