The Political Spectrum: where are you?

Based on debates and discussions here, it seems there are Plimates from every shade of the political spectrum.

Where would you place yourself?

How do you feel about government control over institutions such as medicine, education, the military and welfare? How do you feel about taxes? With which (if any) political party do you identify?

Me, I'm slightly right-wing on the Canadian political spectrum, but this would still put me very far left of the American political spectrum (the American Democrats are far more conservative than our Conservatives, if that makes any sense).

I support government-funded education (I think the government should 100% fund it, actually), as well as government-provided health care. I do not oppose a two-tiered health care system, where those who are willing to pay for extravagant or immediate services may receive them.

I don't mind paying high taxes, but I would love to be able to decide how to "spend" my tax dollars - if I had it my way, it would go to military spending (protect our sovereignty claim to the North), education, health care and maybe a few other places, and it would NOT go to... many of the programs the government supports.

First off, note I am a rebellious suburban teenager, and not of voting age either.
Anyway, I am kinda like a moderate anarchist. Sounds funny, I know, but I don't think anarchy is good, but I think the government has way overstepped its bounds and needs to cut back on almost everything. There are some things that it should fund, though such a education and some science. I really dislike any health care or other government payout, not because I disagree with it idealistically, but because it just far too inefficient with tax money. I am not too studied in political groups, but I think the party I would be with is libertarian.

Also, I'm really glad I don't have to vote.
I hate both candidates views.

I'm a Plimeist. Government for the people, by the people.

No but really, I'm going to take the political test that Gammerus linked to.

I'm a registered republican and former evangelical. I'm not happy with what has happened over the last 4-8 years even though I did vote for Bush in 2004.

My political high priorities are very Democrat even though pretty much everything else is more republican. Those priorities are ending the war in Iraq / ending the policy of "Nation Building" and making it easier for people to afford state colleges and other forms of higher education.

Other major issues, just not as high a priority as above include abortion, I believe in life at conception but I'm not foolish enough to think banning abortions will stop them from happening, and smaller government.

My ideal candidate is Ron Paul but among the nominees I hate McCain and only tolerate Obama.

I guess that's why we disagree haha. You're left leaning, I'm a hard right libertarian lol.

OK, I'm gonna take this test again (the last time I did it was ages ago) and I got:

Economic Left/Right: 7.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian -6.15

I'll update after I take it.

UPDATE: OK, this time I got:
Economic Left/Right: 8.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15

Which places me here:

I guess I get points off for some of my moral stances, even though those have nothing to do with politics.

Left leaning libertarian, also, according to gammerus's link. I'm almost spot on with The Dalai Lama.

Economic Left/Right: -3.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.10

I followed Gammerus' link to the political test.

Here's the chart they show with some famous people:

Here's where I fall on the chart:

And if you overlap the charts, I line up with Gandhi. I think that's neat :)

According to "The Political Brew", I'm a moderate conservative, particularly in regards to fiscal issues.

According to Gammerus' link, I'm around here someplace:

In reality, I don't think my views fit so neatly into these boxes.

According to Gammerus' link, I'm:
Economic Left/Right: -5.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.87

I tried to take ReBoot's link, but it was far too America-centric for me to take. I have no clue, for example, the amount of funding the American government currently allots to the arts, so I can't comment if I feel this level should be increased or decreased.

I don't know how much the States allots for arts either, but I would be okay with increasing it :)

Though I don't remember the exact numbers, Gammerus' test came out as approximately:
Left/Right: -4
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7

I'd say I'm a pretty liberal person. I find the Democratic party to be far too socially conservative for me, and obviously the Republican party is worse to me. I'm not a fan of the Libertarian Party, either. The Green Party is the closest to my ideals.
I believe that we should have a system of both socialized and private medicine to work in conjunction, I think we need both governmentally funded schools and private schools, I believe the military needs to be government run, and I can't say I know enough to have an opinion on welfare.
And I believe that high taxes will likely be necessary in the situation we're in, but I think the government needs to get it's act togeather before they can start upping the taxes, sans removing the tax breaks on the rich.

Interesting...

I'm all about taxing for social programs that benefit...well...uh...society. Things like education, military/defense, health programs.

For other "private" issues like marriage, abortion and homosexuality...I don't think the government has any business regulating those things.

As far as energy goes - I say build more nuclear power plants, drill more holes, etc. etc. Anything leading to energy sustainability - which also involves renewable and cleaner energy sources...I just want to see less talking and more doing in the energy sector. I'm tired of paying for Sultan Ali Baba's 14 wives and 43 kids each with their own gold plated Bentley.
